Meet the community! – Ms Ruane (MINI CAMP ´15 teacher)

Having spent time teaching in Ireland, I was full of excitement and anticipation about teaching English to the Mini Campers at Chester College International School´s MINI Camp during the month of July 2015. From the moment Camp started, I knew that this was going to be a most memorable experience! Each day began with an assembly for the whole camp, during which we were welcomed to the college and sang songs to gave thanks for another fun filled camp day. Then it was upstairs to kick start the day with some English action songs and dance to get us moving and ready for the day ahead! Our days were filled with games, songs, stories and art, all of which gave the children an opportunity to practice and listen to new English vocabulary while having fun!

Working with a class of energetic, enthusiastic young children, there were so many unforgettable moments throughout the month. Some which stand out for me in particular include t-shirt painting, delicious lunches together under the vines in the beautiful grounds of Chester College, and the hilarious performances during the Mid Camp Concert which had the audience enthralled.

More than anything, it was immediately apparent the enormous enjoyment the children got from learning new songs and playing games while totally immersed in English. It was incredible to hear children speak English words they had picked up during the month, and watch as they grew in confidence and enthusiasm.

I had such an enriching time at Chester College, it certainly broadened my knowledge and provided me with a wealth of memories I will treasure and smile about for years to come!
